Arizona man fatally beats coworker with baseball bat at Intel cafeteria: police

Ann Arizona A man is suspected of beating his colleague to death with a baseball bat in the cafeteria of the Intel building, police said.

Derrick Lemond Simmons, 50, has been arrested after attacking an unnamed colleague with a bat, knife and hatchet. Semiconductor manufacturer Ocotillo campus on Saturday, according to court documents obtained by the Arizona family.

Chandler police responding to the scene found one dead and another wounded from fatal blunt force trauma.

Derrick Simmons, 50, was arrested in Chandler, Arizona on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault following an incident at Intel’s Ocotillo campus.

A second victim was reportedly injured after confronting Simmons. A spokeswoman for the Chandler Police Department could not confirm the nature of the weapons used in the violent encounter.

Simmons, 50, was incarcerated in the Maricopa County Jail on charges of: first degree murder Assault aggravated and is being held with a $1 million cash bond. Simmons has a felony criminal record for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to FOX10 Phoenix.

The victim’s name is being withheld until Chandler Police can notify next of kin, a spokesperson told Fox News.
