Yabapai County, Arizona – A Yabapai County ju judge recently found a man of manslaughter charges guilty after being found to be living on the property of a missing Ashfork resident.

Terry Welfenberg, 77, was found guilty of manslaughter, and abandoned and tampered with the Yabapay County Sheriff’s Office after being placed on the bodies of a human in many fires belonging to John McCabe. I protected the evidence that I was doing it.

YCSO was contacted by Ash Fork Post Office after McCabe was unable to collect mail for more than a year.

In April 2023, a deputy was sent to McCabe’s property to conduct welfare checks and discovered Welfenburg was living on the land. Welfenberg is said to have told YCSO that McCabe gave him permission to live there and denied knowing McCabe’s whereabouts.

YCSO searched for a search for human bone facility in a fire hole, along with a burning wallet containing the remains of McCabe’s vehicle registration.

Welfenberg later claimed to YCSO that he killed the victim, acted in “self-defense,” and burned McCabe’s body.

The defendant was sentenced to prison on March 24th and will be faced in prison for more than 20 years.
