YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Territorial Chapter of the Arizona Old Time Fiddlers Association (AOTFA) hosts the 47th Annual Yuma Silver Spur Rodeo Worthen Memorial Old Time Fiddlers Contest did.
The contest, which began at 8 a.m. Saturday at 2577 E. County 14th Street, allows contestants to showcase their talents and compete for cash and prizes in several categories.
Additionally, AOTFA states that their mission is to “preserve, promote, and perpetuate the art of traditional fiddle playing, and to encourage all people, young and old, to develop their musical talents and provide opportunities for public performance.” It states that it is “that''.
Before the competition began, judges shared their criteria in a public forum.
I think the most important thing for me is probably the rhythm. Next is intonation… those are the main two things I have to keep track of. ”

Judging was held twice, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The contest will be followed by a fiddler's show and dance event starting at 6:30 p.m.
