Arizona Sheriff to lawmakers: Indians pay ₹17 lakh to cartels to help them illegally cross over US border

The average claim for transnational criminal organizations, known as cartels, is US$21,000 (approximately ¥ An Arizona sheriff told lawmakers that he was receiving 170,000 rupees from Indians to help them illegally cross the US border.



Cochise County, Arizona Sheriff Mark Dunnells told members of the House Judiciary Committee here this week that the minimum amount the cartels will charge if an alien enters the United States illegally is $7,000.

Danells, who has informed lawmakers that the border along Mexico is unsafe, said transnational criminal syndicates known as cartels control south of the U.S. border. “The South is all controlled. They control who comes across. There’s a price based on who you are. You’re a terrorist from another country,” he said.

“I think India, for example, was US$21,000. But now the lowest is around US$7,000.





“So when they cross the country, they may go through processing, as the Honorable Judge spoke, but they end up being servants of the cartels. It’s for trade, gangs, drugs, labor, you name it, I’ve never seen a win-win with this,” he said.
