Flagstaff, Arizona (azfamily) – The combination of spring break and the first real snowfall of a few weeks is to make a busy week with the Arizona Snow Bowl.
It is one of the driest winters in Flagstaff, and snowmakers in the Arizona Snow Bowl work hard. Last week’s snowstorm made the Snow Bowl one of the snowiest snowiest of the country.
“As of Saturday, March 8th, the Arizona Snow Bowl was the deepest ski resort in North America in the snow,” said marketing manager Angie Grab.
Genevieve Wright, a student at Northern Arizona University, says she was chosen to stay in town and ski as much as possible.
“I was pretty excited,” Wright said. “We were waiting for a good snowy day and I’m happy that they enjoyed it and enjoyed it and took a break.”
Visiting from Chandler, the Hanson brothers noted the large difference in temperature from the valley.
“There’s wind and snow, there’s snow in Chandler,” said Kayley Hanson. “It’s like 80 degrees.”
Snowbowl tickets start at $29 if purchased in advance, but can cost $174 if purchased this week.
However, this is still cheaper than a resort near Colorado or California.
Saturday lift ticket:
- Arizona Snow Bowl: $174
- Palisades Tahoe, CA: $246
- Wolf Cree Crunch, Colorado: $269
“There are a lot of people here, Flagstaff, Phoenix and a lot of people from all over the country,” Grub said.
Skiers are also excited by the snowy snow on Tuesday night and later this week.
“It was pretty good,” Wright said. “We haven’t gotten anything really good this year, so it’s good to see real snow falling on the mountains.”
People can save money by purchasing tickets online in advance, and time by purchasing ski rentals in town. You can learn more Visit the Snowbowl website.
