Flagstaff, Arizona – Spring may be nearby, but winter weather has not yet been done in Arizona. Snow showers, strong winds and extreme cold temperatures are set to affect Flagstaff throughout the week, creating dangerous travel conditions and disrupt daily life.

According to the National Weather Service, snow showers begin late Tuesday night with a 60% chance of sediment and sudden winds up to 15 mph. Rain and snow will mix on Wednesday, followed by heavier snowfall and strong winds on Thursday, when gusts of wind could reach 40 miles on Thursday. Accumulation can cause smooth roads, especially on I-40 and US-180.

By Thursday night, extensive snow is expected, reducing visibility and putting travel risks. Residents should prepare for delays and check road conditions before they leave. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to carry emergency kits such as blankets, food and water.

Looking ahead, Friday may see a prolonged snow shower on the morning before the sky begins to clear. However, gusts of winds can help you get off to a chilly start to the weekend. Although it is expected to be partly sunny on Saturdays and Sundays, the temperatures are cool, with highs in the 40s and overnight lows in the 20s.

Drivers and residents should be up to date with weather warnings and be careful on icy roads. More updates continue as conditions arise.
