Arizona Supreme Court to hold oral arguments in Yuma

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to observe oral arguments at the Arizona Supreme Court, today is your chance to do so in Yuma.

The court will hear oral discussions at Pivot Point Conference Center in Yuma at 1:30pm. You will be asked to take 30 minutes for the security screening.

The visit is part of the Arizona Supreme Court’s ongoing efforts to enable residents outside the Phoenix area to observe actual court proceedings. The Arizona State Court held a previous oral discussion at San Luis High School in February 2020.

This visit to Yuma is homecoming for the latest Judge Maria Elena Cruz. She previously served as a judge for Cocopa Tribal Court, Yuma County Superior Court, and Arizona Court of Appeals.

Cruz earned a JD from James Rogers College University at the University of Arizona, and began practicing law as a prosecutor at the Yuma County Law Office, prosecuting felons.

Cruz is the first Latina and African justice to serve on the Arizona Supreme Court.

Please pay attention to KAWC. Ask Judge Cruz and others more about Yuma’s Arizona Supreme Court.
