These conditions were what 2-year-old Boden Allen faced when he left his parents’ property on Monday and entered the northern Arizona desert. Yavapai County search and rescue squads jumped into action, but Megan Fitzgerald with the Sheriff’s Office says such cases don’t usually turn out to what they wanted. His owner, Scotty Dutton, says the only explanation he could think of is that Borden followed the power line to his property. Do you walk all night? And he goes, no, I slept under the *** tree and I said, well, did my dog find you? And he said, yes. Power lines line up in his house seven miles away. The sheriff’s office says he can’t explain how the two-year-old walked seven miles, but they are relieved they have found him safe and well. As for Buford, he’s back to work tonight, but it’s not without the ***’s pay. Ah, he’s getting a steak dinner tonight. My wife said, yeah, he did an amazing job.

Toddler Borden Allen walked through her parents’ property on Monday and faced a harsh high desert situation with temperatures dropping overnight and predators, including mountain lions.
“There were even two mountain lions found during the search last night,” said Megan Fitzgerald of the Yavapay County Sheriff’s Office.

“It’s not every day when we sit here and talk about happy endings about where our kids are safe and in a place,” Fitzgerald said.
The next morning, a loyal ranch dog named Buford spotted Boden seven miles from his home.
“I’m heading down the driveway. My dog was sitting there with my little one. I would lift him off the horse’s pasture, take him to the gate, and just wander around with him,” said Buford’s owner, Scotty Dunton.
Danton believes that Borden traced the power line all the way to his property.
“You walk all night? And he goes, no, I slept under the tree, and I said, and my dog found you? And he said, Yep.
