FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Unseasonably warm weather continues today, with a noticeable cooling start Monday. A weather change will bring much-needed relief from the heat in northern Arizona and bring light rain to areas like Flagstaff and parts of the Navajo Nation.
Temperatures in the Flagstaff area today are expected to reach a high of 85°F in the lower elevations, with highs in the mountains between 75 and 85°F, according to the National Weather Service. But a colder trend will begin Monday, dropping highs into the mid-70s across much of northern Arizona. Expect mostly cloudy skies and a few showers, especially in areas near Route 89A and the Navajo Nation.
Flagstaff locals should be aware of the upcoming weather. Rain will be light on Monday, but strong winds are expected in some areas, making driving conditions less favorable, especially on mountain roads such as Highway 180. NWS advises travelers to heed weather warnings as isolated rain may affect visibility.
Looking ahead, the cooldown will continue throughout this week. Tuesday will see mostly sunny skies with highs near 71 degrees Fahrenheit before dropping into the upper 30s with a clear night. Wednesday and Thursday will remain cool, with highs in the mid 60s to low 70s, and Thursday is expected to be windy with gusts up to 40 km/h.
