By Sunday night, winds will turn north and ease slightly to 15 mph, while temperatures will plummet to 9 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service. Those planning outdoor activities or traveling on major roadways such as Interstate 40 and Route 66 should be aware of poor visibility and icy roads.
Looking ahead, Monday is expected to be sunny and windy, with highs reaching 36°F. But it will drop further to single digits Monday night. This cold pattern will continue through Tuesday, with daytime highs rising to 42°F and nighttime lows around 16°F.
Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts should always be aware of potential wind hazards and sub-zero temperatures in the early morning and late evening hours. To avoid the risk of hypothermia, bundle up your clothing and limit outdoor exposure at night.
