Flagstaff, Arizona – Winter weather advisories are in effect in parts of northern Arizona, with heavy snow and strong winds expected to affect travel Thursday night.

Snow begins early Thursday morning in Mogoronlim, the west, including Flagstaff, Williams and Man’s Park. Accumulation of 3-6 inches is expected, and Flagstaff is looking at the highest total. The wind protrudes between 40-50 mph, creating a dangerous condition for drivers, especially during Thursday morning commutes.

Meanwhile, the Kaibab Plateau, including Lake Jacob, will continue to experience snowfall from 5pm on Wednesday to 11pm on Thursday. Accumulation of 5-10 inches of snow is expected to exceed 6,500 feet, with winds of 45 mph. Traveling in this area is not recommended due to reduced visibility and snowy roads.

Authorities urge residents to take caution while traveling while giving birth. The bridges and overpasses are especially smooth. For the latest updates on road closures, visit AZ511.gov or call 511.

It is recommended that drivers prepare slowly for winter conditions. Strong winds can also lead to falling tree branches, increasing potential danger.
