Arizona woman accused of pouring bleach into coffee of Air Force husband over period of months

An Arizona woman has been accused of poisoning the coffee of a U.S. Air Force operative who was estranged for months with bleach, according to court documents.

Melody Johnson was arrested on July 18 after she turned over a video showing her husband pouring toxic substances into his coffee machine.

The husband, whose name is not listed in the court documents, began noticing that the coffee tasted bad at the end of March 2023 while stationed in Germany.

Johnson and her husband are considering divorce, but were living with their children.

After drinking coffee for 2-3 weeks, my husband tested the water in the faucet using chemical test strips and it was back to normal. Court documents say she tested the water in her coffee pot and found “high levels of chlorine.”

Johnson was arrested by Tucson police and charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated assault, and adulteration of food and drink. She is being held at the Pima County Adult Detention Center, according to online records.
