SAFORD — Amber R. Langley, 38, has been charged with first-degree murder for murdering a teenage girl two years ago.
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office announced the charges on Wednesday.
On October 26, 2020, hunters found the girl’s body along the Artesia Road alignment about eight miles east of US Highway 191. Her body was wrapped in a vinyl sheet.
An autopsy by the Pima County coroner ruled the victim’s death a homicide.
The Graham County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the FBI, Safford Police, Thatcher Police, and the Department of Public Safety, has executed two search warrants in connection with the investigation. On August 24, 2022, Langley was arrested on charges of fraudulent schemes and deceptions and theft related to an investigation.
A murder charge was filed by the Graham County Attorney’s Office on September 1.
The GCSO said “elements of the investigation continue to be ongoing.”
The victims’ identities have been withheld due to the victims’ ages, with a 2021 press release calling for the public’s help in identifying them, describing them as being between 13 and 15 years old.
