Arrest made in connection to November San Tan Valley teen attack seen on video

SANTAN VALLEY, Ariz. — A 20-year-old man is in custody in connection with an attack on a teenage boy in Santa Tan Valley in November, according to officials with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

PCSO officials announced that Jacob Pennington was arrested Wednesday.

Authorities believe he was involved in an altercation on Nov. 18 near Wagon Wheel Road and Sun Dance Drive in Santan Valley.

The 16-year-old boy suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment during the altercation, which was recorded and posted on social media.

According to court documents, the video shows the victim being punched in the face several times by the man and other people.

In court papers, Pennington said he was representing a female friend who said she was beaten by a 16-year-old boy. Witnesses said Pennington was the main assailant in the incident.

Pennington is currently charged with aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in the incident.

The Maricopa County Attorney held his weekly press conference on Wednesday, where ABC15 investigators asked questions about multiple assaults on teens in the East Valley.
