ASHFOLK, Ariz. — The Ashfork High School boys and girls basketball teams finished their season Feb. 3 at the 1A Super Regionals.
The boys team finished third in the 1A Canyon Region with a 6-4 record and a regional record of 10-8 overall. One of the highlights was a 53-52 win over Williams in the final game of the regular season.
During the season, Gabe Zeller led the team in several different categories. Points per game, 13.2. Rebounds per game, 7.2. Josué Telles led the team in field goal percentage with 36.
The Lady Spartans had a tough 2-8 record in the 1A Canyon Region and 4-14 overall. Gracie Staples led the team with 185 points. Eva Flores was next with 111 points, followed by Jamie Keel with 108 points on the year.
Staples also led the team in rebounds with 224 rebounds. Crystal Nixon grabbed 133 boards and Kiel grabbed 126 boards. Andrea Vasquez had 52 steals, point guard Aspen Bond stole the ball 38 times and Nixon stole the ball 36 times.
