Assistance comes in for flood relief efforts in Arizona

Multiple organizations, including Arizona Public Services, are mobilizing to provide both immediate and long-term assistance following the severe flooding in the Grove Miami area.

In Gila County, Arizona, various communities, businesses, and organizations are uniting to support those impacted by the unprecedented floods.

Arizona Public Services has contributed $250,000 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts for the Grove Miami region, and the United Fund has committed to matching the first $50,000 in online donations made through the Salvation Army Southwest website, as highlighted in a news release.

Additionally, from October 1 to October 7, Paul’s Ace Hardware at its seven Valley locations will participate in a “Roundup at Checkout Campaign” to support the Salvation Army, sharing 10% of all collected donations, according to the same news release.

If you’re interested in aiding those affected by the flood, financial contributions can be made by texting to the number 51555.

“All designated donations will be directed straight to disaster relief efforts,” stated a release from the Salvation Army.

A Disaster Support Center is set to open on October 1st, operating from 7 am to 7 pm at the Gila County Fairgrounds. This center aims to connect residents with recovery services and support.

The Salvation Army will also provide emotional and mental care services as well as accept in-kind donations at the center, available from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

You can donate the following items:

  • Cleanup tools (like shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows)
  • Trash cans and trash bags
  • Mud boots
  • New clothing
  • Fresh foods, snacks, and drinks
  • Hygiene items
  • Supplies for toddlers

If you, or someone you know, are in need of assistance, please visit the Salvation Army Globe Services Center or call 928-425-4011.
