Astros Signing Franchise Icon Jose Altuve ‘For Life’

The Houston Astros have agreed to a five-year contract with franchise cornerstone infielder Jose Altuve, binding him through the 2029 season, the team announced on Twitter.

The deal is reportedly worth $125 million, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic.

According to Rome, Houston will offer the homegrown star a $15 million contract, followed by $30 million from 2025-27 and then $10 million in 2028 and 2029.

The Venezuelan second baseman was a core member of the Astros dynasty, winning eight All-Star selections, an MVP award, multiple batting titles and two World Series trophies during his time with the team.
