At least 1 dead, multiple hurt after crash on U.S. 93

The crash occurred near Date Creek Ranch Road, about 8 miles north of the intersection with State Route 71.

YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. – A head-on collision on Route 93 in Yavapai County left the highway closed for several hours over the weekend, killing three people, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Transportation.

AZDPS told 12News the accident happened near Date Creek Ranch Road at milepost 175 on Saturday around 2:20 p.m. The area is located in Yavapai County, approximately 13 kilometers north of the confluence with State Route 71.

The BMW reportedly crossed the center line of the highway and collided head-on with a Toyota Sienna.

All three people in the Sienna died at the scene. The driver of the at-fault vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries, according to DPS.

Speed ​​and impairment are suspected to have played a role. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The road reopened around 10 p.m., nearly eight hours after it was closed.
