Auburn Tigers Secure Third Consecutive Win Against South Alabama
The Auburn Tigers continued their successful streak, defeating the South Alabama Jaguars on Saturday afternoon, marking a strong 3-0 record for the season.
The game kicked off with excitement as Auburn quickly seized the momentum. A dynamic play led to a 12-yard drive, culminating in a spectacular 32-yard touchdown pass from Jackson Arnold to sophomore wide receiver Cam Coleman, scoring his first touchdown of the season.
However, the pace slowed down for the rest of the first quarter. Kieron Crawford’s interception gave Arnold an advantageous field position, allowing him to sprint for a rushing touchdown.
After a quick defensive hold that resulted in a three-and-out for the Jaguars, Arnold managed to find the end zone once more, extending Auburn’s lead to 21-3 midway through the second quarter.
The Jaguars responded with a touchdown, narrowing the score to 21-9 thanks to a pass from Davenport Bishop to Jeremy Scott. But Jeremiah Cobb answered back, scoring again just before halftime, pushing the Tigers ahead to 28-9.
South Alabama wasn’t ready to give up, scoring another touchdown early in the third quarter, making it a two-score game—with another successful play from Davenport.
Auburn added a field goal, but both teams struggled offensively for much of the second half, with the Jaguars trying to close the gap. In the fourth quarter, a fumble recovery by Xavier Atkins helped secure Auburn’s lead.
Arnold concluded the game completing 13 of 24 passes for 142 yards and a 50-yard touchdown run, contributing two rushing scores overall. Cobb led the rushing game with 119 yards on 19 carries, while Eric Singleton Jr. caught six passes for 65 yards.
This strong performance sets a positive tone for the Tigers, but next week brings a significant challenge as Arnold returns to his former school for a road game against Oklahoma. With conference play beginning and Auburn still undefeated, fans have plenty to be excited about.
