Auburn star reports positive update after scary injury

Sunday afternoon brought some much-needed good news to the Auburn basketball world.

Star forward Jaylin Williams is expected to return this season after going down with a serious knee injury in Saturday night's home game against Kentucky.

Williams himself sent out a positive tweet Sunday morning, followed by another that read: report An MRI confirmed that Williams' knee injury was not season-ending.

Auburn will have to weather the storm over the next few weeks until Williams returns, but the news that his injury is not as bad as it initially appeared is huge for the Tigers.

He is enjoying a career season as Auburn's second-leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game.

Head coach Bruce Pearl even called Williams one of Auburn's two best players along with Joni Bloom.

“If Jaylin Williams plays well, we win,” he said.

“And there's only been four or five games where he hasn't really played well. Those happened to be games we lost. Mathematics is kind of scary, isn't it?”

Williams, a fifth-year senior, is the winningest singles player in Tiger program history.
