“I made an informed decision with my orthopedic surgeon at the time, not only for the opportunity to play in Paris, but for the rest of my life,” Dawson said. 7News. “The best option for me was to cut off the tip of my finger.”

Dawson said it was a long-term decision he and his wife had made together, and that the injury would provide him with a “change” and an “exciting challenge”.

I have never seen such dedication to amputating a body part just to play a sport. It's insane.

You know the saying, “Go for it!” …and this guy totally amplified that saying by amputating his finger. GREAT!

Of course, he's not as tough as Trump…

But it's still tough!

But you have to think… would this be a bad move if he didn't bring home not only a medal but also a gold medal?
