“Australia’s next top model,” runner-up Lucy Malkovich, died Thursday at the age of 27, of complications of a rare brain condition.
Markovic suffered from cerebral artery malformations after undergoing emergency surgery on April 2nd. According to New York Post. News of her death were announced on their official Instagram page by her agency, the elite NYC.
“We are heartbroken by sharing that Lucy Malkovich passed away after a brave battle with brain AVM,” the Model Management Group wrote. “Lucy was a bright, shining light and had an incredible sense of dry humor. Her smile and laughter illuminated the room and allowed you to get closer to her.”

The elite NYC paid tribute to Markovich by saying, “She loved dancing and she really sparkled.” The agency shared some of their favourite memories.
“Modeling was one of Lucy’s dreams and we are very honored to have been part of our journey with her. She brought grace, strength and beauty to her work. But more than that, she brought herself.
They concluded with a heartfelt message to the model’s loved ones.
“Know her family and friends that you are in our prayers and our hearts. We mourn you and we celebrate Lucy’s incredible people. We will never forget her.”
