Madison Police Department Chief Sean Burns announced at a press conference Monday night that authorities have identified 15-year-old Natalie Rapnow, also known as “Samantha,” as the Abundant Life Christian School shooter.

During his fourth press conference of the night, Burns revealed that authorities had officially identified Rapnow as a suspect, adding that the 15-year-old boy suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital. said that it was done. “The shooter has now been identified as 15-year-old Natalie Lupnow, also known as Samantha. She was a student at that school and evidence suggests she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “There are indications that he did,” Burns said. “The official cause of death will be announced by the Dane County Coroner pending an examination. In addition to the teacher and student who died, authorities confirmed that six other students and a teacher were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Two students remained in serious condition at the time, and a teacher and three students were treated for minor injuries. Two of the injured were released and discharged from hospital. The two survivors are considered to be in stable condition.
“We are still working to determine a motive. Detectives are speaking with her family this evening and are also conducting a search of the shooter’s home here in Madison,” Burns said.
Burns said Rapnow’s purported manifesto circulating online has not been verified by authorities. At the time, Burns asked members of the community not to hold a vigil, as the school was under police surveillance throughout the night.
The victim has not yet been identified.
