Health officials report that an animal exposure incident took place in Arabaipa Canyon, specifically in the Turkey Creek area, on February 13th.
In Graham County, Arizona, health authorities are trying to locate a man who might have come into contact with a rabid bobcat.
According to Health Department Director Brian Douglas, the incident occurred around 4 PM when two men in white jeeps encountered two hikers in the area. One of the Jeep drivers engaged with a hiker who “had an incident with a bobcat.”
Douglas explained, “One of the two men had contact with a bobcat that tested positive for rabies.”
Health officials are urging anyone with knowledge of the men or who can help identify them to reach out, as rabies can be fatal without prompt treatment before symptoms appear.
If anyone has information, they should contact the Graham County Health Department at 928-428-0110 or 922-965-8921 after business hours.
