AZ Congressman Ciscomani questions VA following Sierra Vista facility closure

Republicans say Cochise County has the highest concentration of veterans anywhere else in Arizona.

But Congressman Juan Siskomani is concerned that with one of Sierra Vista’s veteran homes closed and a replacement just approved, there could be a gap in care.

In a letter to the Undersecretary of Veterans Affairs for Sierra Vista, Siskomani said the VA’s closure of Sierra Vista’s regional access points had forced the nearest veterinary center more than 120 kilometers away. there is

The closed Sierra Vista facility will reportedly be replaced with an outside station, paving the way for counselors to reside there.

Ciscomani asked for details on what new veteran benefits will be offered at Outstation and when they will open.

He’s also trying to figure out how many veterans were using the closed site and how many counseling appointments were made there.
