On April 10, two babies named Johnny Cash Davis and June Carter Clark were born just seven hours apart at a Huntsville hospital. Their parents say it was pure chance.

“We love Johnny Cash, but we just thought the name 'June' was a great name,” Clark's mother, Sophie, told WAFF in an interview. Tennessee Valley Life“I started calling her June Carter and everybody loved it. Our family loved it and everything worked out great.”

Davis' mother, Nicole, appeared on “Good Morning America” ​​and said the family struggled with what to name their child before coming up with an obvious choice.

“My dad's name is Jonny Lee Davis Jr., and we tried calling him Jonny Lee Davis III for a while, but it just didn't feel right,” she told GMA. “We tried calling him 'Lee' to give him a little more personality, but it didn't work, so we had to start over.”

“So we said, wait a minute, Johnny Cash would be perfect, so let's call him Cash,” Davis added.

Clark said her family had never even heard of the Davises until her husband's uncle struck up a conversation with Johnny's father in an elevator at the hospital.

“I thought, 'I've got to go find this kid,'” Clark said. “I saw a sign on the door that said Johnny Cash and I thought, 'Can I come in and talk to him?'”

Hospital staff helped arrange a meeting for both families.

“Of course, we immediately took them out into the hallway, took pictures and exchanged information, so that as they grow up, this lovely coincidence can always follow them and they'll always have a lovely story to tell,” Nicole Davis said.

“We'd like to keep in contact with them,” Sophie Clarke said, “and maybe take some photos of them, because it would be too big a coincidence not to.”

“I think it's so fun that in a world where there are a lot of babies born on April 10th, these two will always have a fun past and the opportunity to have friends that they met in an unconventional but really special way,” Davis told Tennessee Valley Living. “I hope they stay friends, stay connected and continue to have these fun memories together.”

Davis also told Tennessee Valley Living that the family plans to pose for photos at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, where Johnny Cash and June Carter met in 1956.
