All kids’ worst nightmare came to fruition on Monday. Officials say the “monster” was found under the child’s bed.
Deputies for the BARTON County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said in a press release posted to Facebook that they answered their home in Kansas for a disturbance call. The babysitter at the residence spoke to officials on the scene.
“When I went to sleep, one child complained that there was a ‘monster’ under the bed. When the victim tried to show the child that there was nothing under the bed, she came face to face with the male suspect hiding there,” the official said.
The babysitter and the man got into an argument, BCSO said. A child was defeated between the suspects, and the suspect fled before officials could respond. The press release reported no injuries.
According to BCSO, the babysitter has identified Martin Villalobos Jr., who previously lived at his home, as the suspect. Authorities said Villalobos issued an abuse order against him that banned him.
The lawmaker said he searched the surrounding area for the 27-year-old but couldn’t find him and ultimately found him the next day. Villalobos Jr. attempted to escape but was reportedly caught after a short leg pursuit. (Related: Ongoing for “dangerous” prisoners who allegedly escaped through a drywall)
