Bagdad man Michael Herren charged with stalking young boy

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 35-year-old man from Baghdad on suspicion of stalking a boy.

Michael Helen, 35, was arrested on June 24 after police found his car. Earlier that evening, the young boy’s mother called police that the driver of a red Ford Explorer had passed the house and tried to pick up his son.

Police said this wasn’t the first time Helen had interacted with a boy. Two days earlier, the child’s mother had called police about another incident involving the same child and her friend, police said.

During the exchange, he reportedly told the police, “You guys are going to be kidnapped.”

On Saturday, police said the boy’s brother reported hearing Helen say “hi buddy” to the boy and then tell him to get out of the car. The boys informed her mother of the incident, and her mother followed Helen in her car.

However, he manages to evade her and eventually loses her at Camp Wood Road. Later that night, lawmakers found a car and driver that matched the description the children’s mother had given them.
