sedona news – The Sedona International Film Festival will present Ballet in Cinema on Sunday, January 21st with the big screen premiere of the Dutch National Ballet’s new production “Giselle.” There will be one show at the festival's Mary D. Fisher Theater starting at 1 p.m.
The ultimate romantic ballet, Giselle, was performed by former Bolshoi Ballet principals Olga Smirnova and Jacopo Tisci, who emigrated from Russia and joined the Dutch National Ballet, where the production was filmed.

Giselle, a young peasant girl, falls in love with Albrecht, a nobleman who is already engaged to her, but hides her true identity from him. When she learns the truth, she becomes furious and dies. Giselle joins Willis, the vengeful bride-to-be, who, against her own will, condemns her Albrecht to dance to her death in exhaustion.
“Giselle” touches on great universal romantic themes, and Rachel Beaujan and Ricardo Bustamante's acclaimed production pays homage to one of classical dance's oldest and greatest works. .
Ballet in Cinema is generously sponsored by Rose Borne and Bonny Singer.
“Giselle” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theater for one day only: Sunday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15, or $13 for festival members. For tickets or more information, call 928-282-1177.
