Barbie Cast Blasts Oscars For Snubbing Margot Robbie, Director Greta Gerwig

The cast of “Barbie” is slamming the Academy Awards for not nominating lead actress Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig.

“In a year full of great films, I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such amazing artists.” ryan gosling Said variety. “I never thought I'd be able to say this, but I'm so honored and proud to play a plastic doll named Ken. But without Barbie, there would be no Ken. There would be no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making and world-famous film.”

Gerwig and Robbie were among the most surprising names left off the nominees list, although they had been generating Oscar buzz even before the film was released.

The film was nominated for Best Picture and Gerwig was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, but the director of the film, which has grossed more than $1.4 billion, was not nominated for Best Director, and neither was Robbie, the film's title character. Ta. Nominated for Best Actress.

Gosling expressed personal shock and disappointment.

“Without talent, guts, and genius, it would be impossible for the actors in this film to be recognized. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a shame that they were not nominated in their respective categories. Sho,” Gosling told Variety magazine.

He noted the incredible talent and hard work required to transform reality into the fantastical Barbie world that can be enjoyed by millions of people around the world.

“Even though there were only a few soulless, skimpy, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, broke our hearts, promoted culture, and made history. Their achievements should be recognized along with other highly deserving candidates,” Mr. Gosling said.

The famous actor “expressed his admiration for America Ferrera and the other amazing artists who contributed their talents to the making of such a groundbreaking film.”

Ferrera also cited the academy's apparent inaction.

“Greta has done just about everything that a director should do,” Ferrera told Variety. “To create this world and take something that was essentially worthless to most people and make it a global phenomenon. Ferrera also gave Robbie a nod, saying, “What Margot has accomplished as an actress is truly incredible.”
