Barbra Drummond’s real views against the GOP revealed in viral video before Mobile mayoral runoff

Mobile Citizens Mobilize Against I-10 Bayway Fees

Back in 2019, around 55,000 residents in the Mobile area rallied against toll charges on the I-10 Bayway, largely driven by one individual who became pivotal to the cause.

David Lucky, an economist and a Mobile native who graduated from Murphy High School and the University of South Alabama, did extensive research that laid the groundwork for legal challenges against toll implementations. And now, he’s at it again.

Recently, he stumbled upon a video on Facebook featuring State Senator Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile). This video has sparked renewed attention, especially with Drummond’s running for the mayor’s open seat on September 23.

This has ignited concern among conservatives, Republicans, and many residents of Mobile, creating a divide between political camps.

In the video, Drummond expressed strong views, stating, “We cannot overstate the dangers that the Donald Trump and the Maga Republican agenda poses for our country’s future.”

As of now, Lucky’s social media posts have drawn thousands of views.

Drummond’s comments are particularly troubling in light of recent events, including the assassination of Christian conservative Charlie Kirk.

Moreover, Lucky’s video isn’t the sole instance of perceived negativity directed at Republican supporters by Drummond’s campaign. Her supporting PAC has been active, sending out mailers that criticize her opponent, Spiro Cheriogotis, and endorse GOP candidate Caroline Dobson for Congress.

Although Dobson lost to a Democrat, she did manage to secure Mobile County, which is notable in local politics.

This raises questions about the strategy behind the negative campaigning from Drummond’s supporters. They seem to be rallying their base in an attempt to boost Democratic turnout during what’s expected to be a low-enthusiasm election.

However, there’s a risk here. Republicans are likely paying attention to these attacks. Drummond’s fierce remarks could very well galvanize conservatives and motivate more of them to head to the polls.

Ultimately, voter turnout is crucial for the upcoming mayoral race. If Democrats can rally a larger turnout than in previous elections, Drummond might secure a victory. Conversely, if Republicans manage to mobilize their base effectively, Cheriogotis could come out on top.

In Alabama, local elections officially maintain a nonpartisan stance.
