Bark Air launching first-ever airline for dogs

An airline created for man's best friend begins operations this week.

Berkair” ” is the first innovative way to carry dogs on a plane without having to be crammed into a cage or the cargo hold.

Although the ticket purchased includes one human, the plane's layout is “dog-centric” and features an open layout, allowing pets to play and interact with each other.

The planes are G5 Gulfstream jets that the company never fills to capacity to ensure there's ample space for both passengers and dogs.

“It's a first-class experience for the dog and a business-class experience for the person. We do everything for the dog to reduce anxiety and stress and give them the most comfortable, fear-free experience on a plane,” said Matt Meeker, co-founder and CEO of Bark.

The downside is the fact that for now, destinations are limited and the price is high, meaning only upper class dog owners can afford this luxury.

Tickets cost over $6,000, and Bark currently has locations in New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris.

The company, which offers a “White Footprints Experience,” says it has sold out for the rest of May and the end of June.

But if you can afford to fly with your dog, Bark Air might be just the thing for you.
