As the “Working for Alabama” legislative package moves through the state Legislature to address the various workforce and economic development opportunities currently facing the state, the Business Council of Alabama is running a statewide campaign featuring digital ads, billboards and video endorsements from leaders.
Our first video features a leader who has been involved in the current workforce transformation discussions from the beginning: Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth.
“If we don't expand and improve Alabama's workforce, companies will move elsewhere, taking jobs and wages with them,” Ainsworth said. “That won't happen during my term.”
“And that's why we've developed a plan to work for Alabama to ensure our state remains an economic leader in the Southeast.”
“This bill is currently before the Alabama Legislature, and I urge you to encourage your Representatives and Senators to support our efforts,” Ainsworth said. “And once this law is in place, I urge you to take advantage of the many opportunities it provides.”
“By working together, we can get more Alabamians off the sidelines and back into the workforce.” We can give our children and future generations an Alabama that works for them. And together, we can make our already great state even better.”

Additionally, BCA has installed digital billboards on busy roadways that show Gov. Kay Ivey touting the need and benefits of the bill.
“An engaged, trained and qualified workforce is a vital ingredient in the recipe for a strong and healthy state economy,” said BCA President and CEO Helena Duncan. “Passing a workforce package for Alabama through Congress is the first step of our efforts, and encouraging Alabama workers and business owners alike to take advantage of all that package has to offer is the second step. This campaign will help achieve both goals.”
Ivey recently appeared at a press conference announcing the “Working for Alabama” initiative along with Ainsworth, Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed (R-Jasper), House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville), Senate Minority Leader Bobby Singleton (D-Greensboro), House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels (D-Huntsville) and Duncan.
Last week, lawmakers passed the Alabama Workforce Housing Tax Credit, the Child Care Tax Credit, the Alabama Growth Alliance Act, the Alabama Workforce Transformation Act and the Alabama Career Pathways Act in both or either chambers. The Workforce Transformation Act is already awaiting Governor Kay Ivey's signature.
Tuesday marks the 24th day of the 2024 state legislative session.
