“Be Quiet For A While”: Scott Jennings Addresses Dem Mayor Jacob Frey After Catholic School Shooting

Minneapolis Mayor Criticized for Comments on Prayer After Shooting

During a segment on Salem Radio Network, host Scott Jennings advised Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis to “not let anyone get mad” following his remarks about those who prayed for victims of a recent shooting. Frey had expressed criticism towards individuals praying during a press conference after a shooter attacked a Catholic school event, resulting in the deaths of two children and injuries to at least 17 others.

Jennings, who hosts the “Scott Jennings Radio Show,” responded to Frey’s comments, particularly as he navigates challenges from leftist candidates in his re-election campaign. “I don’t know what to say to Mayor Frey,” he reflected after airing Frey’s remarks. “People of faith turn to prayer in times of tragedy, and it’s troubling to see such a condemnation of prayer and faith, especially during a time like this.”

He added, “I, I don’t know what to say to Mayor Frey. Perhaps you’re trying too hard to appease the political establishment. My humble advice? Maybe just stay silent for a bit. Angering others isn’t the best path as we all try to cope with this tragic event.”

Frey’s remarks received support from figures like Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar and CNN host Dana Bash. At the press conference, Frey emphasized the innocence of the children involved. “These kids were literally praying; it was the first week of school and we were in church,” he noted. “They should be able to enjoy their time with friends, play in the playground, and go to school or church without fear of violence.”

In a subsequent press conference, Frey also addressed comments about the shooter, identifying them as transgender and voicing concern over the backlash directed at the trans community. “There’s a lot of hatred aimed at our trans community,” he stated, urging compassion and common sense instead of divisiveness.
