Ben Harrison declares his intention to run for reelection in House District 2.

State Sen. Ben Harrison Announces Re-Election Bid

On Wednesday, State Senator Ben Harrison declared his intention to run for re-election. Representing District 2, which includes areas in Lauderdale County and Limestone County, he emphasized his commitment to serving the citizens of Alabama.

Harrison believes he has established a solid reputation since his election, describing himself as a staunch conservative voice. He has received high ratings from several respected organizations, including the National Federation of Independent Business and the Freedom Index, which recognize his conservative ideology.

“Representing hardworking individuals in North Alabama has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Harrison stated. He emphasized the importance of standing up for working families and protecting constitutional freedoms. Reflecting on his initial campaign four years ago, he mentioned a promise to advocate for limited government, lower taxes, and the values that strengthen the community. “My voting record speaks to that commitment,” he added.

Harrison highlighted his track record within the conservative movement, noting his previous role as a Republican County Commissioner from 2012 to 2020. He was recognized as a consistent advocate for fiscal responsibility and served as an alternative representative for Donald Trump at the national convention in 2020, with plans to do so again in 2024. A lifelong resident of Alabama, he earned his engineering degree from Auburn University and shares a family with his wife, Beth McGuire Harrison, along with their four children and five grandchildren.

“As a father and grandfather, our greatest responsibility is to the next generation,” he remarked. Harrison recalled the values of hard work and integrity he learned growing up in Rogersville, stating he’s not a career politician. After spending years in the private sector, he launched his own small business, an experience he believes informs his approach to fostering sensible, conservative solutions in Montgomery.

Harrison is set to compete in the Republican primary for House District 2 on May 19th.

“I want the people in the second district to have the chance to keep working together. Let’s stay true to the principles that build our nation,” he concluded.
