Pride Month began in June 1969 as the Civil Rights Movement. Demonstrators take to the streets to protest a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village.

A year later, demonstrators gathered in Chicago to celebrate the anniversary of the attack, and over time, Gay Pride became a national movement.

The goal was to end the stigma of gay and lesbian people and promote tolerance and mutual respect. These values are as American as apple pie, and everyone can celebrate them.

But aggressive activists and far-left politicians have turned some pride events into hateful attacks.

Their motto is “Go out and sin no more,” a direct take on Jesus’ command to “Go and sin no more.”

The Dodgers have hosted Pride Night for a decade, but this year they’ve taken a turn. Outside the stadium, Catholics prayed in protest.

Americans want to be tolerant, but they don’t want minorities to impose their beliefs on others. David Leatherwood, director of the nonprofit Gays Against Groomers, said many gays and lesbians do not support the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and that the activism of transgenderism. Daniel Mowry, a self-identified gay man from Manchester, said: “We should educate students about civic pride, not gay pride.”

In America, the majority rules within limits. US Constitutional Maker James Madison warned of the dangers of an unrestricted majority. The Bill of Rights was added to protect the rights of minorities, which was the original purpose of Pride.

From Bill Clinton to Donald Trump to Joe Biden, successive presidents have recognized Pride Month. But in order for Pride to survive with the support of the state, the movement needs to return to its founding purpose and stop attacking. Don’t let extremists ruin your pride.

Tell the Pride leaders that America will always stand up for minorities. But the silent majority, including those of faith, have rights too.
