Around the world, hostile countries like Russia are using immigration as a weapon of war. Wars are being waged with immigrants instead of tanks, destabilizing and even bankrupting countries and facilitating terrorist attacks from within.
Immigrants are being used to attack Finland, Italy, France, Poland, and of course the United States. But the Biden administration remains turned on and asleep, unaware of the threat. Most immigrants who cross the U.S. southern border are seeking economic opportunity, but some are being used as tools by the enemy.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott is rightly sounding the alarm about what he calls an “invasion.”
So did 10 former FBI officials. Warning statement On January 17, he appealed to Congress about a “new and unfamiliar” type of war. Listen to what they say.
The letter points to the risk that large numbers of military-age men “could begin attacking gatherings of unarmed civilians,” echoing the horrors of the October 7 Hamas attack.
The letter also warns that some of the migrants are from countries that are on terrorist watch lists or designated as state sponsors of terrorism.
Europe understands that.French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin returned a warning In October, he said failure to deport illegal immigrants has led to terrorist attacks in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
The left says calling immigrants an “invasion” is “racist.” Nonsense. Just ask Finland.
Finland locked The migrants crossed the eastern border in November after Russia flooded them with migrants from countries as far away as Afghanistan, Somalia and Syria in retaliation for Finland's entry into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
In the Western Hemisphere, the anti-American Nicaraguan government is doing what it can, welcoming charter flights of Haitians and Cubans heading to the U.S. border. The Ortega government is using immigration as a means to attack the United States. report Associated Press.
Texas is on the receiving end. Mr. Abbott laid miles of razor wire along the Rio Grande to deter border crossings. (Related: Agents 'never' want to cut Greg Abbott's razor wire, Border Patrol union head says)
Last fall, Customs and Border Protection officials, at the direction of President Joe Biden, began cutting power lines in Texas to allow migrants into the country. Biden has turned CBP into a concierge service for immigrants.
On October 26, CBP discovered hundreds of migrants waiting on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande. forklift Pulling the Texas fence out of the ground and keeping the wire high enough for 300 immigrants to walk into Texas. That's when Mr. Abbott filed suit in federal court.
The Biden administration maintains that under the Constitution, immigration is solely a federal matter. But while refusing to halt the wire cutting, a federal district court ruled that the federal government was “neglecting its border duties” and tempting people to cross, causing “irreparable harm.” It was certified as. All true.
On appeal, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ordered Biden's Border Patrol to: stop cutting wire.
Biden then skipped the 5th Circuit and went directly to the Supreme Court. The justices have not yet ruled on the merits of the case, but on January 22 they lifted a restraining order that temporarily allowed the Border Patrol to resume cutting power lines in Texas.
Still, the judge did not prevent Mr. Abbott from installing more wires. And he's doing just that, literally vowing to protect the state from “invasion.” (Related: Democrats say Biden should take control of Texas' National Guard, but here's what they're not saying)
Liberal critics have derided Mr. Abbott for invoking the Constitution's invasion clause, which allows states to defend themselves without federal aid if they are “invaded.”
A federal appeals court ruled in a 1996 case Padavan vs USA “For a state to enjoy the protection of the invasion clause,” it must be under attack by “another state or a foreign state with the intention of overthrowing its government.” But the 20th century definition of invasion is outdated. Now, wars are being waged not only with missiles but also with immigrants.
The letter to Congress warns that “an invasion of the homeland is now underway.” Military age men from Russia and China pose an “alarming and dangerous” threat.
from the attorney general 26 states —All Republicans supported Mr. Abbott and sent a strong message condemning Mr. Biden's open borders policy. Several of those states have sent state police or National Guard troops to support Mr. Abbott.
“If the Biden administration is not going to do its job of securing our borders and keeping Americans safe, then it should step back and let states do their jobs,” said Iowa Attorney General Brenna Byrd. he said.
Amen.
