Big Names Line Up For Super Secretive UFO Movie … But We Are Extremely Confused

Deadline reported on Monday that Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell are apparently in final negotiations to star in the top-secret J.J. Abrams film.

The film, which may be titled “The Dish,” is rumored to be in development with Steven Spielberg. according to Multiple ReportsIncluding deadlines, articleAlong with Ortega and Powell, Emily Blunt Rumored The film probably won't be released until May 2026, but even then, there's a lot of confusion to clear up.

Deadline also says the film is currently untitled, but all of these various reports refer to the film as “The Dish” somewhere in the text, and two conflicting reports name the screenwriters as Abrams and David Koepp. So who is the screenwriter?

Could Abrams be working on another UFO movie? Possibly, but Deadline also reports that the film will be a “two-person show” with Blunt playing one of the leads. (Related: Watch this trailer and your heart will stop racing)

Part of me wonders if Deadline simply made a mistake and wrote “The Dish” incorrectly in their headline. “The Dish”'s IMDB page lists Blunt and actor Josh O'Connor, with Koepp co-writing the screenplay with Spielberg. Deadline also said Abrams will direct the project.

Abrams is reportedly co-producing the film with Warner Bros. others Spielberg will produce it in partnership with Universal, and Deadline is no longer saying it's a UFO movie, just that it has no time travel involved. What does that even mean? (Related: 'Beetlejuice' Returns in the Most Shocking Way Possible)

With so many conflicting reports out there, one thing I hope is true is that Ortega, Powell, Blunt and O'Connor will co-star in the film, with Koepp and Spielberg writing the screenplay, Abrams directing and all three serving as producers.

Or maybe the two films will be completely different. We'll just have to wait and see.
