Birmingham’s leading chefs and winemakers will come together for the annual TumTum Tree wine auction to support 17 Alabama charities in November.

The dates for this year’s annual Wine Auction Weekend have been set for November 6th to 8th. This event is recognized as one of the top charity wine gatherings in the nation.

For over 30 years, the Birmingham-based Tumtum Tree Foundation has successfully united renowned chefs, distinguished winemakers, and philanthropic supporters to raise substantial funds for Alabama children battling life-threatening illnesses.

The success of this mission was particularly evident at the 2024 auction, which set a record by raising nearly $2 million. This milestone reflects the increasing demands placed on the 17 organizations that benefit from the foundation’s efforts.

Beneficiaries include the Alabama Pediatric Cancer and Hematology Center, Bell Center, Mitchell’s place, Libby’s Friends, and others.

The three-day event consists of intimate wine dinners, energetic tastings, exciting auctions, and even football tailgate parties. Local restaurants and hospitality partners generously contribute their time and venues, and acclaimed winemakers often travel to Birmingham to donate rare bottles and unique lots specifically for the auction.

Rachel Lone Savill from the Magical Moment shared her insights on the foundation’s impact.

“With Tumtum Tree Foundation supporting us, we’ve been able to bring joy and unforgettable experiences to countless children in Alabama facing serious challenges,” she noted.

For instance, one child with progressive blindness was able to visit the Grand Canyon, among other life-enhancing experiences. These moments bring new hope and strength, and our partnership with Tumtum ensures these opportunities are available for these kids,” she added.

Longtime supporters Frank and Pardis Stitt also commended the foundation’s meaningful contributions.

“The Tumtum Tree Foundation has been a cornerstone of support, touching millions of Alabama children and nurturing strong friendships within Birmingham and the broader wine community,” stated Pardis Stitt.

Board member Jack Bryant believes the Birmingham community recognizes its impact.

“It’s all about Birmingham chefs, venues, volunteers, and bidders collaborating to transform generosity into positive outcomes for children. That’s the Tumtum Formula,” he expressed.

With record funding and growing public interest, the foundation is continuing to highlight Birmingham’s culinary talents alongside its philanthropic initiatives.
