Yuma, Arizona – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Yuma Field Office is seeking public input on an environmental review of a proposed Travel Management Plan (TMP) that covers approximately 700,684 acres of BLM-managed public lands in Yuma, La Paz and Maricopa Counties east of Yuma.
The proposed plan would designate motorized and non-motorized travel routes, establish maintenance guidelines, and identify use restrictions to protect resources and public safety. The proposal would maintain access for a variety of uses, including off-road vehicle use, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, biking, and camping.
The BLM will hold two in-person public meetings to provide information about the proposed TMP and ways to participate in the TMP planning process.
Meeting 1: It will be held on Wednesday, June 26th from 5pm to 7pm MST at the Yuma County Central Library (2951 S. 21st Dr., Yuma, AZ 85364).
Meeting 2: The event will be held on Thursday, June 27th from 5pm to 7pm MST at the Microtel Inn & Suites in Wellton, 28784 Commerce Way, Wellton, AZ 85356.
“We thank our partners and the public for their help in developing this plan.” Ray Castro, field manager at the Yuma field office“It is important to the BLM to implement comprehensive plans to enable access to diverse land uses and conserve critical resources, and we look forward to working with user groups, local and county governments and state agencies.”
