Flagstaff officials have warned some residents on the west side of the city that blocked culverts could increase runoff in their neighborhoods.
Owned by the Arizona Department of Transportation, Schultz Creek Culvert runs under Route 180 and is damaged and partially blocked.
For the past few weeks, the thaw has been flowing down Schultz Creek. ADOT crews are on the scene pumping water onto the highway.
The area was the site of significant flooding that affected hundreds of residents last summer during heavy monsoon rains following the San Francisco Peaks pipeline fire.
At this time, Flagstaff officials are not recommending mitigation measures for post-fire flooding beyond those previously suggested.
Sandbags can be purchased at Thorpe Park and Coconino County health and welfare facilities.
Warmer temperatures over the next few days could lead to rapid snowmelt, increasing the risk of flooding around Coconino Estate.
