Immigrant gang members are said to be targeting tourists and popular New York City destinations such as Central Park, the newspaper said. They frequently post on social media using government-issued cell phones, brandishing guns and boasting about their accomplishments.
Additionally, according to the New York Post, packs often apply peer pressure on young members to commit certain crimes and punish them if they fail. The gang recruits young members with the knowledge that they will not be prosecuted if caught by police.
According to the New York Post, an 11-year-old juvenile robber was arrested in August for suspected ties to TdA, but the NYPD released him with a juvenile card. Many TdA suspects are being released thanks to permissive crime laws that prohibit bail for misdemeanors and some felonies, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.
