BNSF freight train derailments: 5,000 gallons of diesel spilled in Anacortes, Washington hours after corn syrup spillage in Topock, Arizona

Two BNSF freight trains derailed within hours. Around midnight in Anacortes, Washington, over 5,000 gallons of diesel spilled after two of his locomotives, each capable of carrying 3,500 gallons of fuel, overturned. On Wednesday, a train carrying corn syrup derailed near Topok in western Arizona, near the California border.

“BNSF Rail can confirm that a train carrying corn syrup has derailed,” company spokeswoman Lena Kent told CNN at around 7:40 p.m. The cause is under investigation.

“No one was injured as a result of the derailment and preliminary reports indicate no hazardous materials were involved,” the company statement added.

A freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed in western Arizona on Wednesday and there were no immediate reports of a spill, according to primary media reports.

The latest derailment comes a week after another train derailed off the tracks in rural West Virginia, injuring three crew members and spilling diesel fuel into a nearby river. East, Ohio More than a month after his derailment in Palestine, potentially harmful chemicals were released into the air, soil and water, requiring extensive cleanup operations.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified of the incident and is responding to an investigation, sheriff’s office spokesperson Anita Mortensen said.

BNSF Railway operates rail networks in three states in North America and Canada and is owned by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Founded in 1995, the company is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

A Norfolk Southern Railroad freight train derailment in February of this year released more than one million gallons of toxic and pollutant substances into the environment around the town of East Palestine, Ohio. This has resulted in lawsuits from the state and an investigation from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
