At its regular meeting Wednesday, the Alabama Community College System Board of Governors approved the appointment of Dr. Aaron Milner as president. Coastal Alabama Community College. Milner currently serves as the superintendent of Saraland City Schools.
“Aaron has nearly 30 years of experience in education, and we know his expertise will continue to move our region forward as he brings a fresh perspective on the changes that need to occur to help more students pursue success.” I am confident that it will be of great help to the public,” said Jimmy H. Milner began his career in education as a middle school teacher in Eufaula City Schools and within six years assumed a leadership position as assistant principal at Enterprise High School. He served as the superintendent of Enterprise City Schools from his 2010 to his 2013, then began his tenure as the superintendent of Saraland City Schools. In addition to his K-12 experience, he has served as an adjunct professor in both the master's and doctoral programs in educational leadership at the University of South Alabama and in various courses in educational leadership at Troy University.
Nominated as District 1 Superintendent of the Year in both 2016 and 2018, and recently appointed as the next president of the Alabama Association of Superintendents, Mr. Milner will continue his service to education across the state of Alabama from K-12 to It spans the executive committees of both administrators and agencies.
Milner is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a bachelor's degree in education science. He earned a Master of Science degree from Troy State University and a Doctorate of Education degree from Auburn University. His paper focused on the level of knowledge that Alabama high school principals had regarding the disciplinary duties of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Coastal Alabama Community College serves more than 10,000 students in 12 locations throughout southern Alabama. Coastal Alabama is her third largest community college in the state by population and the largest in the state geographically. Popular programs include general studies, nursing, and liberal arts.

Dr. Milner has been married to Jennifer (Haise) Milner for 26 years. They are the proud parents of her two sons, Matthew (19 years old) and Michael (23 years old).
Milner's term begins February 1st.
