Bobby Brown Slams Britney Spears, Says She ‘Butchered’ His Song

Bobby Brown torched Britney Spears on an episode of Shannon Sharp’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, directing his 1988 hit “Prerogative.”

The famous singer didn’t write words when asked about how other artists felt about sampling their music. “I have to listen,” Brown said. “I don’t know what these kids are saying these days!” he cried. Brown went on to say, “You don’t want to associate songs with them, so yeah, you have to listen to it.” He went on to say he felt his song “Wa a Butching” in Spears’ version.

Sharp began by asking Brown if he liked any of the other artist samples that recreated his music.

“Well, I don’t think they did justice,” he said.

“I don’t think they gave justice to any of the samples they did to my songs,” Brown told Sharp on the podcast.

He is then caught in a spear, revealing that her version does not meet his standards.

“Like Britney Spears – she was slaughtered, and slaughtered ‘privileges’,” he said.

Brown said, “Teddy Riley produced it, but it was a slaughter you know – I couldn’t take it!”

Sharp reminded the famous singer that Spears had allowed him to take on the task of sampling his songs. (Related: Dolly Parton makes a rare misstep and partners with heresy pop star Sabrina Carpenter for a new song)

“It was Britney Spears, so I cleared it. I was thinking… Teddy Riley is doing it too – you know – but I feel it’s slaughter,” he said.

Spears has yet to comment on negative feedback regarding her song’s direction.
