During spring training early in his career, MLB legend Jeff Francore had the unique opportunity to not only meet Tiger Woods, but play golf with him. Francore was willing to do the responsible thing and stay on the team, but manager Bobby Cox (Atlanta Braves) had other ideas: he wanted to cut Francore from the team. Atlanta was scheduled to play the New York Yankees in an exhibition game at 1 p.m., and before the game, Cox sensed that Francoeur had turned down the opportunity to tee off with the Tigers, citing his obligations with the Braves.
Speaking with ESPN's Tim Kirkjian on the “Is This A Great Game, Or What?” podcast recently, Franklin revealed what really happened, and it's a pretty incredible story.
