Bodies found at northern Arizona campsite case of murder-suicide, deputies say

Coconino County, Arizona (AZFamily) Detectives are investigating a possible murder-suicide after two bodies were found at a Coconino County campground earlier this week.

Just before 4 p.m. on Monday, September 9, a 911 caller reported finding two people unconscious at a campground south of Stoneman Lake Road. When Coconino County Sheriff's deputies and Mormon Lake Fire Department arrived on scene, they found the two people lying outside of a vehicle.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office said both died from gunshot wounds.

Their identities have not been released, but investigators say they are a Phoenix-area family.

The sheriff's office says the shooting remains under investigation but there are no public safety concerns.
