Yuma, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Police Department (YPD) has identified a man found dead in a canal as the same man who went missing over a week ago.
The YPD received a report that a body was found near Avenue 3E and 48th Street Monday afternoon by workers in the Yuma Mesa Irrigation District.
“We arrived at the scene to call out the diving team and they removed the body, which was later revealed to be José Velasco, who had been reported missing on January 24th.th Through the San Luis PD,” said YPD spokeswoman Lori Franklin.
The YPD also said Velasco had drowned.
At the same time, the YPD notified next of kin and the San Luis Police Department (SLPD).
There were no signs of wrongdoing, but the investigation is ongoing.
