Police body camera footage appears to show an escalating argument between a New Jersey State Police sergeant and the police chief, with the sergeant slamming the police officer into his car.
Sergeant William Major was assessing a motor vehicle accident allegedly caused by a drunk driver on the night of Nov. 9 when Bradley Beach Police Chief Leonard Guida arrived at the scene in casual clothing. The disagreement appeared to begin verbally, then escalated into a physical confrontation. , get into report. “Why are you wearing a jacket you can't wear?'' Guida asked, noting that the writing on the clothes was peeling off.
Eventually the major took off his jacket. “Okay, Chief. Give this guy a DWI, okay,” the major said.
The Major then turned to face his fellow officers, but Guida demanded that the Major return. “Major, I'm on his DWI,” the major repeatedly responded. Guida persisted in his request and walked up to the Major.
The altercation then apparently turned physical after Guida apparently “touched” Major. The major appeared to angrily slam his superior into the car, yelling, “Don't touch me.” The major instructed his superiors to “get out of here before we cause trouble.”
Guida ordered other officers to “take” the major, but no one moved. The Major is heard saying, “I'm drunk again,” while picking up Guida's keys, which had fallen during the argument. The Major then returned the key to Guida. Guida then relieved the Major and reiterated that he should return to headquarters. It appears that the Major ended up following this order and returned to his car to head to headquarters.

Since the incident, Guida has been placed on paid administrative leave as the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office began an investigation into the matter. According to TAPinto, the major has returned to full-time duty. The investigation has been completed and submitted.
