Bone gets 5 years for baby abuse | Kingman Daily Miner

KINGMAN – Abuse-related black and blue bruises suffered by a four-month-old girl at the hands of her mother’s ex-boyfriend, Doug said during a sentencing hearing at the Mojave County Center for Law and Justice Thursday, March 30.・Detailed by Judge Camacho.

“It’s just terrifying,” Camacho said of the injury suffered by Kingman’s 24-year-old Anthony Vaughan.

Mojave County Deputy Attorney Bob Moon spoke of a defendant with a history of anger management problems.

“He’s a ticking time bomb waiting to explode and seriously hurt someone,” Moon said.

Bourne admitted to “popping” the baby to stop her crying while babysitting in late January, and at a hearing on February 28, Bourne pleaded guilty to child abuse charges.

Public defender Gregory Pridham is seeking probation, an ex-girlfriend is seeking treatment rather than punishment, and his mother wants Vaughan to live with her in Mesa.

He said the victim had suffered no long-term injuries, that Vaughn had been clean and sober for two months, and that he hoped to turn his life around on probation.

“He wants to focus on straight and narrow,” Pridham said.

Judge Camacho said an aggravated assault conviction could not justify the reinstatement of a defendant who had already abused a baby while on probation.

He sentenced Bourne to five years in prison.
